[Letter] Nov.19,1886,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]
Nov. 19, 1886, Smith College.
Dear Mr. Giddings,
I have just
rec'd a letter from Prof.
Richmond Smith asking
for a contrib. to March
Quarterly, and suggesting
that I write to you if I
cannot furnish one in
time. I had mentioned
in an earlier letter that
you have good things in
process, and had Prof.
Smith been personally
acquainted with you, he would
doubtless have applied
directly to you. What would
you say to giving to our
proposed symposium on
Limits of Compet. a character
adapted to the Quarterly, and
publishing it jointly there,
if they would like it? I
have had from the first
the feeling that the subject
was such as to adapt it
more readily to the magazine
though we could, no doubt,
give it a character such
that it would interest
working men and general
readers. We could also write
another set of articles
differing from the ones we
should naturally send to Prof.
S. and not conflicting with
them, though they were
also published.
I enclose article on
Wage Problems.
Yours Very Truly,
J. B. Clark
