[Letter] Dec.24,1887,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]

Dec. 24, 1887, Smith College.

Dear Mr. Giddings,
         I consent with
qualification. I want some
reference to Statistical Bureau
attached to your name.
How would special statistician
for the Mass. Bureau do?
Thursday, it is, for the
N.Y. trip. It will suit me
to a T. There is just a
possibility that I may have to
caring a very old lady,
a friend of my mother, to
Jersey City, which will be a
"disturbing influence" in our
plans; but it is only a
possibility. Let me know
by what train you plan to
go.
 Miss Ruth I. Bowles
(182 Central St.) has written
asking that I arrange, if I
can, for her staying
under your direction as
proposed. I have replied
to the effect that I will
suggest that you call at her
house - which I accordingly
do now suggest. You will
find her an extraordinarily
apt and pleasant pupil.

   Yours Very Truly,
         J. B. Clark
