[Letter] March 3,1888,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]

March 3, 1888, Smith College.

Dear Mr. Giddings,
      We were sorry enough
to learn, by a letter from
Miss Bowles, that Mrs. Giddings
has been ill, but were glad
to know that, at the time
that Miss Bowles wrote, there
was a prospect that it would
not prove serious. You
had too much of a strain
on you for one man, at
that time.
 I wonder whether we
might not do well to put
into our book - if so
be that we are publishing
a book - a note, on
a little free leaflet, saying
that, even in the time
since the first pair of articles
were written, the development
of trusts has obscured the
action of the principles
there stated ; - that the
principles are true "all
same," that trusts are
extra-legal and economically
abnormal, and that our
conclusions are in the line of
natural law, and of true and
permanent Ricardianism. What
say you?

        Yours Very Truly,
               J. B. Clark

 Our best regards and
condolences to Mrs. Giddings,
for whom I hope to have
good news.
