[Letter] May 30,1888,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]
May 30, 1888, Smith College.
Dear Mr. Giddings.
I had a council of
war with Prof. Morse
yesterday, as a result of
which I suppose he has
before this written to
Prof. Rice. I have also
written to Prof. Van Vleck.
We agreed that the best
policy is to be frank,
and to make just the
suggestion we have in
mind. I do hope. something
will come of it.
What do you think
of this from Dr. Ely?
Shall we not, at least,
before we are through
with this question, draw
a sharp line between
socialism, mild or radical,
and sound economics?
Dr. Ely is friendly, and
I hope he may continue
so.
Yours Very Truly,
J. B. Clark
