[Letter] Feb.6,1889,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]
Feb. 6, 1889, Smith College.
Dear Friend,
Miss Thomas has
been here to see Miss
Jordan on business at
present to me unknown.
I had a short conversation
with her. Both Miss
Jordan and I endeavored to
do a little indirect sounding
on the subject of your
prospects. Miss Thomas
spoke in the kindest way
of you. To me she
said you were very
successful. To Miss
Jordan she added that
you were "a born
teacher." I tried to enlarge
on the difficulty of a
first year, when lecture
material has to be made
as fast as used, etc.
The inference was if Mr. G.
is successful now, what
will he not be another
year. To us things look
promising.
Yours Very Truly,
J. B. Clark
