[Letter] June 28,1889,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]

June 28, 1889, Smith College.

Dear Friend,
       Good Enough!
I am delighted. I will
see that some good
arrangement is made as
to room etc. that
shall not, as you say,
burden my mother and
sister. They will, I know, be as
glad as I. Keene Valley is about
24 miles straight inland
from Westport on Lake
Champlain. We reach it
via Vergennes Vt. or
via Albany. From
Vergennes a small boat
makes a daily trip to
Westport. I rather expect
myself to go by bicycle in
which case you and I
can use the horse (this one)
on the "ride and tie" principle.
I do not leave here till
the 10th and then, by
present arrangements, I take
a preliminary trip among
the Berkshires with Prof. Morse.
He has become a cyclist. Possibly
you may be here by about the 20th,
in which case we can go together to
the Adirondacks, which will be best of all.
You can come and keep bachelor's
hall with me for a day or two and then
go by any method that you prefer to the
mountains. I am not at all strenuous
about going by wheel. Please let me know how
early you can come to Mass.

          Yours Very Truly,
                J. B. Clark
