July 6, 1889, Smith College.

Dear Friend,
       A letter post
rec'd from my sister
asks me to try to
reach Keene Valley
so as to have a little
visit before Aug. since
Dr. and Mrs. Cochrane of
Persia are to arrive at
an early day in Aug.
My suggestion is that
you and I try to reach
Brook Knoll Lodge,
Keene Valley, about the
25th inst. and if the
Cochranes come about
Aug. 1, or soon after
that, we can "take to
do woods" as it were.
We can go for a tramp
on routes that I will
know to Adirondack
Lodge, Mr. Macy, or
Median Pass. I do not
expect the Cochranes before
Aug. 5 or a little later; but
I believe they are more or less
liable to arrive Aug. 1. Let us
get on route for the Adriondacks,
either by rail or wheel at as
early a date as we well can.
