[Letter] October 15,1890,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]
October 15, 1890, Smith College.
Dear Friend,
Prof. Ely wants
you and me to make
a program for annual
meeting of A.E.A. at
Washington. He suggests
Arlington Hotel as
headquarters, and
Columbia University as
place. He suggests
the following arrangement
of sessions:
Fri. 26th ----- Afternoon, Evening
Sat. 27th Morning -----
Mon. 29th Morning- Afternoon -----
Tues. 30th Morning- Afternoon, Evening (joint session Hist. and Econ.)
Blanks show free time.
At Phil. we had six working
sessions and 17 papers
besides addresses of welcome,
reports, etc. Here we have 5 1/2
sessions, and so far as
I now know 5 papers
definitely promised; viz.
by Prof's Taussig, Dewey,
Bemis, Kies (Mt. Holyoke)
and the subscriber. Will you
read a paper? I suggest
that you see what papers
are to be expected from
Philadelphia and I will
take Columbia. A few
downright good papers
are worth 100 times as
much as a lot of fairly
good ones.
Yours Very Truly,
J.B. Clark
P.S. If it is best we can
put Fri. P.M. session into
Sat. evening.
