[Letter] May 3,1892,Smith College [to F.H. Giddings]
May 3, 1892, Smith College.
Dear Friend,
Thanks for
the telegram. Please
let me pay the cost.
It came in good
time and did me
a real service.
The proposal is
informal as yet;
but if it takes a
formal shape I
have decided to accept
it.
I send the
papers on Cap. and Val.
to Dr. Tuttle.
One of Henry Holt's
men asked me to
tell him of good
books that it would
pay his firm to
publish. I told
him yours would be
a hit, and valuable to a
publisher. I am sure it can
do no harm to have this
firm after the book, whether
you give it to them or not.
Competing buyers make the
wares valuable.
Yours Very Truly,
J. B. Clark
