[Letter] May 20,[1893] [to F.H. Giddings]
May 20, [1893], n. p.
Dear Friend,
I have just
agreed to read a paper
at the Congress of
Polit. Sci. at Chicago.
I would rather stand by
the Economic Association.
If Prof. Gray would
release me I could
transfer the paper to
the Association's program.
Would it not look ill
to have members of
the committee put
their own papers on
the program? I had
forgotten the fact of having
refused to go on to
the program, otherwise
I should have been
inclined to say no to
Prof. Gray's repeated
letters. I consented
at last thinking I would
make the work tributary
to the work on Distribution.
Yours Very Truly,
J. B. Clark
