[Letter] July 20,1894,Northampton [to F.H. Giddings]
July 20, 1894, Northampton.
Dear Friend:
My last days in
Phila'. seemed hurried,
by reason of many
appointments; but they
were leisure in
comparison with the
present situation. Eight
boxes of books are
a part of my environment
as I write, and there
are six more in other
rooms. A book of articles
that I am to assort is
on my floor, be more
on Tuesday and Wednesday
of next week. I have
to take a train for
Plymouth on Wed.
noon, leaving Mrs.
Clark in a partly
settled house at Amherst.
The plan now is that
she shall go to Minn.
with the two younger
children on Monday
or Tuesday of the following
week. This makes it
necessary for me to
return on Saturday
after my last Plymouth
lecture. When you
finish your course I
shall be in ample
bachelor quarters at
Amherst. Now will you
not return by the
Central Mass. R.R.
and visit me for
a while at Amherst?
We will have drives
among the hills etc.
If this can be done
it will be a large
source of pleasure
for me.
I find Garman
has not resigned at
Amherst. Perhaps
he will not.
Yours Very Truly,
John B. Clark
