[Letter] October 18,[1894],[Johns Hopkins Unversity,Baltimore] [to F.H. Giddings]

October 18, [1894], [Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore]

Dear Friend:
          The book
goes today. On the
slip enclosed is a
list of Simmel's
publications, the
review article last
named being the best,
as Mr. Bentley says.
It was issued in three
languages at once.
 Bentley has put on
the reverse side the
names of two other
sociologists whose work
he has valued. Probably
they are familiar to you.
The book belongs to
the said Bentley, who
gladly loans it.
 I have strong
indirect evidence that no
slight was intended in
the invitation matter.
I could retort on the
bankers if I desired.
One of their speeches
declared ( )"Neither
Gresham's law nor any
other legislative enactment
could keep sliver on a par with
gold."

       Yours Very Truly,
          John B. Clark
