[Letter] January 3,1895,Amherst [to F.H. Giddings]
January 3, 1895, Amherst.
Dear Friend:
We are all
in the house routine
again, after a pleasant
outing of a week's
duration, and after
a particularly pleasant
visit with you and
your family.
I must tell
you that the Exec.
Committee of the
Johns Hopkins has
taken action. The
trustees meet on
the 7th or 9th inst.
Till things are
finally settled perhaps
we should keep the
matter between us.
I have told Mayo-Smith,
however, with the same
understanding. The
call has been noted by
the committee, salary to be
fixed by the trustees. Of course I
have not accepted in advance
of the final action.
Please see that my friend
Giddings does not take too much
work. Sometimes I have a fear that
the two of us are in some danger in
that side.
Yours Very Truly,
John B. Clark
