[Letter] April 24,[1895 or 1896] [to F.H. Giddings]
April 24, [1895 or 1896], n. p.
Dear Friend:
Many
thanks. There is
just a chance
that I might be
able to buy the
beautiful house if
it were not taken
at once. I am
offering for sale a lot
in Minneapolis for
which I lately refused
$13200. I ask
17000, and like to get
15000. If either that
or my Amherst
property are to sell
I could buy a New
York house. If neither
sells, it would not be
wise for me to go
so heavily into debt
as I should have to
do if I purchased.
Your description
stirs me up. It is
very alluring. The students who
took a refusal of my house here
have not appeared to take the
property. If the house were not
to sell I suppose I should have
to keep the family in it through
two thirds of the year, unless the
other property sells promptly.
Thanks again.
Yours Very Truly,
John B. Clark
