Dear Giddings,
        Your letter came
this morning and I have read
your note to the Annals, It
strikes me at first reading
that your statement is frank
and clear, and in its main
points extremely strong. There
may be some points worthy
of more discussion but as I hope
to be in New York next Saturday
we will try and get some time
then to talk over matters.
 I presume you know that the com-
mittee of the Am. Eco. Association
meets then.
