[S.N. Patten's letter] April 9,1895,Philadelphia [to F.H. Giddings]

April 9, 1895, Philadelphia.

Dear Giddings,
        I hear from Dr.
Robinson that Mrs. Giddings is
much better. This good word
pleases me very much. I hope
that it will be a long time
before she is down again.
How are you coming on with
your sociology? Will it appear
in the fall or does it grow
so fast that another year's
work stands ahead of you[?]
I have made quite a start
on my theory of Social Forces
lately. It looks now that I could
round it up in good shape if
I can get a couple quiet
month[s] this summer. I mean
to make a mere essay of it.
I must get my ideas in shape
so as to have a basis for future
work.
It is however working so far into
psychology that you will hardly
recognize it as a social study!
It is in fact a sort of economic psychology.
I may be in New York in a couple
weeks. John Graham Brooks of
Boston has invited me to talk
in Boston before a club of his and
if I go it must be soon.
I enclose my reply to your last
note in the Annals.
 Best wishes to Mrs. Giddings
and other friends.

                                           Sincerely Yours,
                                           Simon N. Patten
