May 1, 1895, Philadelphia.

Dear Giddings,
        I am sorry but I
can not accept your invita-
tion for a foot trip in June.
I mean either to go to Switzer-
land or Colorado for the sum-
mer. I must find a good
place to work.
 In either case I shall leave
here early in June and will
have no time for the proposed
trip.
 Try me again however
and we may make it go.
