[S.N. Patten's letter] July 24,1899,Philadelphia [to F.H. Giddings]
July 24, 1899, Philadelphia.
Dear Giddings,
Keasbey tells me
that there is a possibility
that you and Mrs. Giddings
may come up this way
during the latter part of the
summer. Come by all means.
You will find it a delight-
ful trip and a great change.
We are having a great time
and combine work and
sport in an ideal way.
In both of these you can aid
us and add to our enjoyment.
Keasbey is coming on finely
in the work he is doing for
you but you must not hur-
ry him. He tells me that
you want it by the first of
October. This plan would I
am sure spoil it. I have
gone over it many times
and know just what he
is trying to bring out. It is
a grand piece of work and
will be a credit both to him
and to your university of which
he is soon to become a part.
Your magazine will also
be benefited by opening up with
a number that will attract
universal attention. Better
delay its appearance than
to push Keasbey. Give
him his time.
Best wishes to Mrs. Giddings
and tell her that we want her
to come and see what expert
yachtsmen we are.
Sincerely Yours,
Simon N.Patten
