[Letter] 1817 Aug[us]t 27, Tanhurst [to] Jeremy Bentham
Tanhurst
Aug[us]t 27, 1817
Dear Bentham,
The ladies will not have
the slightest objection to your
visitor & for myself I shall be
very glad to meet him. From
letters I have seen of his I
have no doubt of his being a
very extraordinary man though
I should not have supposed
him to have so much influence
as you represent. I was
ery much gratified by seeing
Dumont's letter & you received
it only 24 hours later than
you would have done if it
had been directed to you. I was
sorry I shall be obliged to
disobey your Subpoena
duces tecum to Frederick's
great grief much more than
to yours, much as you may
wish to see him but all
things considered we find
ourselves obliged to leave
him at home.
L[ad]y R. & Sophy desire to be
very kindly remembered to you.
Mr dear Bentham
Most sincerely yours
Sam[ue]l Romilly
1817 Aug 27.
