[Letter] 1868 March 23, Owens College, Manchester [to] Hendricks
23 March 1868
Dear Hendricks
It is just possible
that I may be examined
by this Commission on
International Currency
& if so I should like to
do my best to support
your view. I do not
however know what is
the positive form in
which the proposal
comes before the Commission
my information coming
chiefly from your
pamphlet & one of
M. de Parieu. If there
is any later document
in the subject which
I could obtain in time
perhaps you would
kindly let me know
of it.
It seems to me it will
be a most ridiculous
mistake for us to let pass
so good an opportunity
of extending the currency
of our sovereign & leading
to some chance of a real
uniform currency.
Yours faithfully
W. S. Jevons
